The Metacrambus carectellus is a moth of the Crambidae family, subfamily Crambinae, with a wingspan of 18-23 mm.
It can be found in Portugal, Spain, France, the Balkan Peninsula, Ukraine, Russia, the Transcaucasian region, Asia Minor, Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Uzbekistan. **
In Italy it is also present in the islands. *

The front wings are pointed, pale yellow with darker longitudinal lines, crossed by a cinnamon-colored median line with a wavy pattern. The apex of the same is darker surrounded by two lines, internally brown-black and externally white. The hind wings are translucent white, fringed.
The Metacrambus carectellus has gray palps with white shades near the apex.

Univoltine species, adults are visible in flight from July to August.

The larvae feed on Poaceae.
