The Gypsonoma nitidulana is a moth of the Tortricidae family with a wingspan of 15-20 mm. Distributed throughout Europe with the exception of the Iberian peninsula and almost all of the Balkans. *
In Italy it is absent from the islands *.

The front wings of Gypsonoma nitidulana are light brown in color with small brown markings. Basal area and median band well defined, brown in color. Well developed brown ocellus.
The costa is brown streaked with creamy white. From the median band to the apex there are four pairs of cream-colored stripes, the last of which forms the edge of the ocellus.
The outer margin has a thin dark line.

The edge is fringed. The hind wings are gray / brownish, fringed.

The adults are visible from late May to all of August and can be attracted to the light.
The pupation takes place in a cocoon in the ground.

The larva is greyish / brown /, with a black / brown head and prothoracic shield, visible from August to September in a silk tube lined with plant residues and excrements.
The pupa is brown / ocher. **

Practically polyphagous, the host plants are many such as Erica, Populus (poplar), Rhododendron (rhododendron), Rubus (blackberries, raspberries), Salix (willow), Vaccinium (blueberry), Humulus lupulus (hops), Betula (birch).
