Lathronympha strigana

The Lathronympha strigana, is a moth of the Tortricidae family, with a wingspan of 14-18 mm. It is distributed throughout Europe, is not present in Croatia, Iceland and Ukraine. (www.fauna-eu.org) The front wing has a lively light-brown, almost orange, darker towards the edge, with more frequent gray markings towards the wing edge, sometimes a basic coloring can vary in shades of dark brown. Median band undefined, the coast has some streaks from the apex to the basal region, white and gray with metallic luster from the apex region to the discal region , gray, always with a metallic sheen, and brown / black in other regions. Clearly visible, a square strip, in submarginal region, close to the inner corner, with lateral lines in a silvery metallic color, containing two or three black dashes. The margin is fringed having the gradient background color in gray. The hind wings are dark gray, also fringed. With one or two generations this moth is usually visible from June to July, until the beginning of September when present the second generation. The adults fly from dusk to dawn. It prefers habitats with open woods and where develops the host plant. The caterpillar slightly flattened, is gray with dark spots, and has a brown head. The larvae feed on various species of Hypericum.
