Information

The Anania testacealis is a moth of the Crambidae family, subfamily Pyraustinae, with a wingspan of 16-23 mm.
In Europe it is visible in Spain, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Ukraine, Republic of Macedonia and, Greece. *
In Italy it is also present in the islands. *

The Anania testacealis has ocher front wings strongly sprinkled with dark ocher scales. Two light brown lines are clearly visible, the first in the basal region, which starts from the inner edge to the costa with a slightly wavy trend, and the second in the discal region, which starts from the inner margin up to about 2/5 of the wing, where it forms a right angle towards the outer edge, to the post discal region where it forms another angle, to continue back towards the costa.
A small narrow light brown spot, perpendicular to the costa, almost as a continuation of the second line before forming the right angle, it is visible in the median area of ​​the wing. A thin light brown stripe is visible along the edge. The edge is fringed in the background color of the wing.

The rear wing is white, silky, suffused in ocher, more intense from about half wing up to the edge; the margin is bordered by a thin light brown line. The wings are fringed in a light ocher.
Palpi, head, thorax and abdomen are ocher

Well distributed species from sea level up to 500 meters. It is more frequent in hilly xerothermal stations near rocky environments or gullies **.

The larvae feed on various herbaceous plants
