The Chiasmia clathrata in the declathrata form is a moth of the Geometridae family, subfamily Ennominae, with a wingspan of 23 - 30 mm.

It is an aberration or individual form of the nominal subspecies, which is very variable (from very light to almost completely black), due to particular genetic characteristics of the single individual or often also to the different climatic or environmental conditions in which its development took place.

According to the original description, the second of the 4 dark transverse lines is missing in the front wing. It is a very rare form.

Being a subspecies of Chiasmia clathrata , the larvae feed, like the mother species, on the clover and alfalfa plants belonging to the Fabaceae family.
